Paige Powell, Publisher/Editor. Formerly the Associate Publisher of Interview magazine in New York. After spending 13 years in the New York publishing industry, she divides her time between Gearhart and Portland, where her dog Sherlock is her constant companion in her efforts on behalf of stray and needy animals everywhere.

Bob Schlesinger, Publisher/Editor.  He is also a software engineer and president of All PC Software Inc., gardener, writer and photographer, and former holographer. He has donated space for a barn that is home to 90 rabbits cared for by the Oregon House Rabbit Society. (which will be featured in a future article). A passionate dog rescuer and advocate for all animals who hopes to make this site a preeminant voice for animals on the web. Shown here with his two dogs Banjo and Sutter who both passed away in 1997.

Robin Roth is a contributing editor of Ark Online and a freelance writer for the Oregonian, Willamette Week, and Our Town. She is a passionate animal advocate who rescues stray cats and loves her dog. She enjoys vegetarian food, rock music, running and travel.

Carey Thiel is an organizer and board member for People For Animal Rights. His mother, Connie, is also an organizer and board member. Carey was the office manager for the NO on 34 campaign, which helped safeguard Oregon's Bears and Cougars. He is a National Chess Expert, and enjoys poetry and other literature.

Joseph Turner helps us to spread the word about ARK Online with his fax machine, which is otherwise in use at Hi Tec International. Joe speaks Japanese and has an extensive network of Japanese contacts as a result of his 4 years at the US Embassy in Tokyo. He now assists US businesses who want to introduce their products into the Japanese market. He lives in Oregon with his beagle pal, Cherokee. Joe can be reached at hitecpdx@aol.com.

Joshua Marquis wrote our Profile of an Animal Abuser feature on Vicki Kittles. He is the District Attorney for Clatsop County, Oregon, and was the prosecutor in charge of Kittles' case. This March Josh received the Jolene R. Marion Aggressive Enforcement Award from the Animal Legal Defense Fund for his work on the Kittles case. He was appointed DA for Clatsop County by Oregon Governor Barbara Roberts in March 1994 and was subsequently elected DA in May 1994. He has prosecuted animal cruelty cases for 15 years and is proud to have been known as the "dog deputy" in Eugene in the early '80s. Josh lives in Astoria, Oregon, with his two cats, Max and Alex.

Pamela Frasch is the attorney who drafted Oregon H.B. 3377. She provided much needed support and information for this issue. Pam also frequently volunteers her time and talents with the Animal Legal Defense Fund. She is pictured with Jenny, her golden retriever.

Sam Mallicoat provided the whimsical line drawings that form the basis of our homepage icons. Sam is the Chairman and founder of Beaverton-based Microfield Graphics and a talented engineer and artist. He lives in Portland.

Matthew Hamilton contributed graphics to the Predator Protection section. Matthew is an artist with Kirkwood Interactive Design. He spends as much time as possible with sharks, whales and sealions off the Oregon coast...surfing.

Ted Mahar, a writer for Portland's daily newspaper, The Oregonian, contributed photos of his many adopted and rescued cats. He lives in Portland with his wife (who is also a writer for the Oregonian) and their large population of dogs and cats. Included in ARK are photos of "The Berry Brothers"--Marion and Dingle.

Teleport, Inc., Portland Oregon's largest Internet service provider, generously donated a deluxe dial-up account to ARK.

Scott Lampman contributed much to the design of ARK's first web site.

Elizabeth Canning has been a contributor and web designer in the past.
